4th of July Parade 2011
The men of the 2nd I.D. were back in action at Ralston's 51st Annual Independence Day parade on Monday, July 4th. We had 10 guys march this time around which I believe is a parade record for us. This year we decided to let each guy choose a different impression to honor all of our World War II veterans. Christopher Vodicka, a co-worker of mine, wore a 2nd I.D. camouflage uniform from the Normandy campaign. Casey Sill, formerly a member of the 2nd I.D., came as a paratrooper of the 82nd Airborne. Steve went with a 101st Airborne impression, David wore a late-war 2nd I.D. impression, Jeff represented the U.S. Navy and Will came in his pre-war denim fatigues and doughboy helmet. Also marching were Erik in his HBT uniform and Kevin and Tyler in their 2nd I.D. wools. Oh yeah, and everyone's favorite Marine showed up in my Iwo Jima impression. The weather was hot but we soldiered on through the heat. Being at the start of the parade we made it through the parade route pretty quickly. My family was there cheering us on - the second to last photo is me and my 6 month old son, Rowan Henry. What a handsome lad!!! It was a great parade and yet another great 4th of July!
